Trading Journey

This blog is about my trading journey -  the journey begins here …

I started learning trading in year 2000. I remember this year clearly for some reasons. It is not a long time , but it was a tough journey. For most people the journey starts with a Dream - a dream to become rich instantly. All the great advertisements in the media and websites and free previews by so-called trading gurus really make us think that trading is the way to go. My dream started with some calculations as to how much I could make from trading per day and by which year I could quit from my job and gain financial freedom. Guess what ? I am still an employee …

Nonetheless my journey continues , and I am still learning and fine-tuning my trading strategies. I have confident to be able to trade for a living in the near future. This blog gives an account of the various stages of my trading journey I have gone through all these years - sweet , bitter , frustration , joy , feelings , learning and unlearning and so on.

In the past I have been soul searching and educating myself to find a way to make a living through online trading. I have spent a fortune attending various trading seminars and purchasing online trading training videos which promised to be the “holy grail” or “secrets” to trading success. The learning journey has been exciting and challenging , and ultimately frustrating and dissapointing. Reasons ? Sitting by the beautiful coast one day and started thinking deeply about the main reason.

One of the reasons is because learning can only take me to a certain stage. Ultimately I have to take actions to match trading strategies with my personality , psychology and mindset. Learning from gurus is one thing , application is the key to success or failure. There are many claims by trading gurus in their advertisements about more than 90% trading accuracy in thier strategies  , but if I asked those seminars students after a year , most of them ( more than 90% ) did not succeed in making it. Some had given up , some still continuing to attend more seminars , some are fine-tuning and backtesting their strategies , some learning about the next wave of making money online - Internet Marketing. ( me too … lol ) Now I have two weapons on how to make money online …

As we can see , trading is a tough journey. It involves not only the technical aspect , equally important is the mindset and psychology.
