Work for a living , or Work for a dying ?

Online trading attracts us with the promise of financial freedom. If you can trade , you can live and work anywhere in the world. You have no boss to answer to , no necessity to answer to customer complaints , and no reports to write. Isn’t that wonderful ?

If you are currently employed , think of this … Are you making a living out of your job , or are you making a dying ?

Consider the average working class , the alarm clock rings at 6:30am and our working man is up and running. Shower and wash up. Dress up in your professional attire or overalls. Breakfast if there is time , otherwise grab your laptop carrying case and join the rush hour and traffic jam. This is a daily punishment for the working people , unless you commute by helicopter , if you are the CEO of a large corporation.

On the job from nine to five - deal with the boss , deal with colleagues , and exercise a little bit of office politics , if necessary. Deal with suppliers and customers. Read emails , attend meetings , and act busy. Hide own mistakes and point finger at others , if you want to be defensive. See , isn’t working life full of excitement ?

Give a sigh of relief when the ax known as “restructuring” or “downsizing” falls on other heads. Shoulder the added workload , as a result of downsizing. Keep watching the clock for five o’clock … oops , not yet …

Argue with your conscience but agree with the boss. Put on a false smile. Ding ding , the bell rings , and it’s five o’clock. Time to pack up and go home. Back in the car or public transport for a second rush hour punishment.

You are finally home and have dinner , talk to your kids and family. Watch television , or surf the internet if you still have the energy …

And you call this making a living ? Think about it. How many people have you seen who are more alive at the end of the work day than they were at the beginning ? Aren’t we killing ourselves - our health , our relationships , our sense of joy and wonder - for our jobs ? We are sacrificing our lives for money - but it is happening so slowly that we barely notice.

Trading is a tough journey , but you get all the freedom of time and money if you work hard for yourself right from the beginning. Working life is never easy …

On the other side of the fence , you may say trading is never easy. Well , it is open for comments !
